What jobs of the future will look like

Tradies, care givers, engineers, photographers and doctors are some of the occupations predicted to hold an important place in the Australian workforce.

WHAT THE AUSSIE JOBS OF THE FUTURE WILL LOOK LIKE:

THE CARE GIVERS

* Social workers, aged care workers, beauty therapists, nannies and fitness instructors

* They will pitch for work using an Uber-like app

* Conduct group workouts via HD video-conferencing

* One of the fastest growing jobs from 2001 to 2011 was aged care workers

THE TECHNOCRATS

* Highly skilled, highly trained and well-remunerated

* AI designers, electrical engineers, medical researchers and business entrepreneurs

* Will collaborate internationally and online, to develop and commercialise projects

THE SPECIALIST PROFESSIONS

* "We're still going to need doctors and legal experts," Mr Salt said

* Accountants, dentists, urban planners and teachers

* Predicted to conduct more work remotely and use technology to diagnose and treat patients

THE DOERS

* Plumbers, carpenters, electricians, waiters

* No matter how much we automate, we will always need waiters

* Create new ways of communicating with clients, ordering materials, allocating work and processing payment

* "Tradies who currently get work through their mobile phone, through word of mouth, reputation, maybe in the future there will be a uber-like app, where people respond and give their rating in terms of their work. They would bill in the moment, in situ, so it would all be finalised at the time," Mr Salt said

THE CREATIVES

* Stylists, social media engineers, photographers and yoga instructors

* Will draw on the internet for inspiration, instant connections with other creatives or clients and transferring large amounts of data

* Could be based in a lifestyle location e.g. an artist in Byron Bay and get inspiration, develop and execute a business from there
