For much of the world, IS is considered a terrorist organisation that has been committing atrocious acts...including the rape and murder of Muslim women.

So for many in the West, it's surprising that Muslim women are leaving their shores to join IS to become so-called jihadi brides.

Ryan Emery spoke with Associate Professor Anne Aly from Curtin University about why these women are leaving places like Australia to join IS.
