Whatmore wants to leave Pakistan with win

Former Australian batsman Daw Whatmore is hoping to close his two-year coaching stint with Pakistan with a Test series win over Sri Lanka.

Dav Whatmore wants to end his two-year coaching stint with Pakistan by winning a Test series against a country that he coached to win the World Cup 18 years ago.

Pakistan hasn't won a Test series since Whatmore joined them in 2012, but the former Australia Test batsman says he wants to end his job on a winning note.

Whatmore coached Sri Lanka for six years in his two coaching stints with them and was the coach of the side that won the World Cup in 1996 in Lahore.

Whatmore, who was born in Sri Lanka, also says he has some "very good friends (in the Sri Lanka team), but when I enter the field we are enemies, so I am keen to finish the stint with a win."

The coach is due to step down at the end of February.
