Wherefore art thou Radiohead?

WA Ballet delivers a striking interpretation of Romeo and Juliet, set to the electronic beats and acoustic melodies of British group Radiohead.

You couldn't have asked for a more beautiful night for an outdoor dance performance.

With a starry sky as the backdrop, The West Australian Ballet delivered a striking interpretation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, set to the music of English band Radiohead.

Perth's magical Quarry Amphitheatre is a special setting for a minimalistic dance performance which has a bit of everything.

Radio and Juliet takes the audience from light to dark and back again.

It seeks to unsettle and agitate before bringing you to a calm, quiet place.

Six Romeos initially take the show by the scruff and produce a bold and passionate modern ballet which takes no prisoners.

This is a very mood-driven performance, dictated by the varied electronic and acoustic songs of Radiohead.

A smattering of black and white film and a dedicated spotlight work well on a stark stage, backed by the natural soundtrack of crickets in the surrounding bush.

Bring a rug and a picnic and perch on the grassed terrace at the Quarry or nestle into a chair with a glass of wine under the moonlight.

There are also three other short performances as part of the show including a fun piece called The Sofa, with music by Tom Waits.

It's hard to find such a relaxing and enchanting environment to watch dance or listen to music.
