A brilliant long-range try in the wet from Sydney Roosters-bound winger Joe Burgess has sparked a great night for Wigan who dismantled Castleford 28-0 in the Super League.
The victory moved Wigan into second on the ladder and avenged their early-season 42-14 mauling by the Tigers.
Wigan led 4-0 courtesy of two Matty Smith penalties with five minutes remaining in the first half before the prolific 20-year-old Burgess struck.
The Warriors had a scrum about 10 metres from their line with five-eighth Smith opting to put in a long kick on the first tackle for his lightning finisher Burgess to chase.
Burgess rocketed down field leaving the Tigers helpless to look on as he picked up the ball before losing his footing and eventually sliding about five metres to score in slippery conditions.
Burgess, who will play in the NRL next season, has scored seven tries in his past three games and is Super League's leading tryscorer with 13 four-pointers after 14 rounds.
Wigan ran away with the game with tries to Michael McIlorum, Dan Sarginson and Dom Manfredi.
In Friday's (Saturday AEST) other match, Huddersfield defeated Salford 19-0 to move back into the top four.
