Bradley Wiggins' chances of ending his illustrious career with a victory improved as he and Mark Cavendish climbed to second on day two of the Ghent Six Day event.
The five-time Olympic champion has so far refused to confirm that the competition in the city where he was born will be his last, having hinted last month that he may continue racing next year.
Lying third after the opening day, Britain's first Tour de France winner Wiggins triumphed in the 66-lap derny final to help the British pair climb to second - just five points behind leaders Elia Vivani and Iljo Keisse.
Overnight leaders Kenny de Ketele and Moreno de Pauw - who denied Cavendish and Wiggins at the London Six Day - have more points than the top two teams but find themselves third due to being a lap down.
Wiggins and Cavendish finished third in the team elimination, fourth in the points race and second in the supersprint before recording a second victory of the day in the final race, the second madison.
