Canberra fullback Jack Wighton's NRL season may be over following his massive hit that left Penrith's Jamie Soward concussed.

Wighton, who wasn't penalised for the tackle during the Raiders' 34-18 defeat of the Panthers on Monday night, was on Tuesday handed a grade-two careless high tackle charge by the match review committee.

If he accepts the early guilty plea - which will result in a one-match ban - or fights the charge at the judiciary and loses he will miss the final-round match against Parramatta on Sunday.

The hit occurred at the end of the first half and resulted in Soward being stretchered off in a neck brace and taken to hospital for precautionary tests.

Meanwhile, Willie Mason has played his last game for Manly after taking the early guilty plea for a grade-one shoulder charge.

The veteran forward accepted a three-match suspension for his hit on Sydney Roosters' Dylan Napa in the first tackle of the Sea Eagles' 46-10 loss on Friday night.

The game was the veteran's first match back after serving two games for a shoulder charge.

Mason's NRL future is in doubt, given he has not been offered a new contract by Manly and has yet to secure a new club for next year.
