The federal government is launching new online resources to tackle wild dogs amid reports the animals are devouring pets in suburban areas.

"I've seen it myself where I've gone down the road in the morning past a mob of sheep and come back up the road in the afternoon past a heap of carcasses," Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce told reporters in Canberra on Tuesday.

He said the PestSmart Connect portal was a one-stop-shop for farmers and the community to easily access the information they needed on best practice management of wild dogs and other pest animals.
