Will Davison has exploded at James Courtney in pit lane after contact from the Holden man ruined Davison's opening V8 Supercars drive of the weekend.

Davison labelled the series leader arrogant and pathetic for his role in an early race crash that spun him out.

Having qualified fourth-fastest for the opening race at Symmons Plains on Saturday, Davison was looking forward to a strong showing.

But his race was undone around the notorious hairpin at the Tasmanian circuit, where contact from Courtney turned the Mercedes driver around and sent him to the back of the pack.

Replays showed Courtney was nudged by cars behind him, including Chaz Mostert, forcing him into Davison in a concertina effect.

But a fuming Davison, who finished 17th, headed straight to the Holden Racing Team garage to remonstrate.

Vision telecast by Fox Sports showed an angry exchange between the two drivers, with Courtney telling Davison to "calm down" and to watch a replay.

Davison was having none of it, and said so after he'd left the HRT garage.

"I've had my race ruined by someone being silly," Davison said.

"Every time he's near me he has to drill me ... it wasn't even an attempt at a passing move.

"I've been turfed and I've got a fair idea of what happened.

"The arrogance on the bloke is just pathetic.

"This is a big weekend for us and it was ruined."

No driver was penalised by race stewards for the clash immediately after the race, with a second 60km race just an hour afterwards.

Courtney said he was taken aback by the incident.

"Wilbur got pretty emotional there," he said.

"I can understand his aggro... but I just said 'Have a look at the vision and come back, you're looking at the wrong guy here'."

Craig Lowndes won the race convincingly from pole position.
