will.i.am is releasing a glasses line.

The Black Eyes Peas star is a spectacles wearer himself and has decided to capitalise on this by creating his own range.

The line will be called ill.i.Optics and will.i.am, real name William Adams, is acting as creative director, working alongside designer George Gorrow.

Among the items on offer will be frames for both men and women, with sunglasses added in too.

The range will go on sale in September and is inspired by the '80s, although all styles have been given a contemporary twist. According to a press release, will.i.am has drawn on moments from his past when creating the pieces.

There is a teaser video to accompany the confirmation of the launch, which is posted on YouTube. The rapper can be seen in a pair of black spectacles with heavy frames and thick arms, although no other styles appear.

This won't be the musician's first foray into the fashion world.

In 2012 he launched his Ekocycle initiative with Coca-Cola, which is a range of eco-friendly pieces including swimwear and bags.

In 2013 he discussed his plans to expand, revealing he wanted to move into the footwear realm.

"High-end, that girls like," he explained, adding he wanted to create toothbrushes and phones too.

He's also created a recycled fashion line with Levi's 501 jeans, with the styles made of fabric derived from recycled plastic bottles and food trays.

"We have landfills and landfills of plastic," he previously explained. "In my eyes, it's new gold."
