Federal Labor wants to know whether former Fair Work Commission vice-president Michael Lawler will get a life pension.
The government has yet to reveal whether Mr Lawler will receive the entitlement, after an independent inquiry found parliament should have considered his sacking.
Opposition workplace relations spokesman Brendan O'Connor is writing to Employment Minister Michaelia Cash seeking more details arising from the resignation.
