Will Power gets news teammate at Penske

Juan Pablo Montoya is out and Josef Newgarden is in for Team Penske.

Team Penske has signed Josef Newgarden to drive the No. 2 Chevrolet in the IndyCar Series.

Newgarden will replace two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Juan Pablo Montoya, who drove Penske's No. 2 last season but had not signed a new deal.

The 25-year-old Newgarden, who is from Tennessee, finished a career-best fourth in the IndyCar season standings in 2016 behind Penske drivers Simon Pagenaud, Will Power and Helio Castroneves.

Newgarden had one win, four podiums and 11 top-10 finishes last season driving for Ed Carpenter Racing.

Overall, he has three wins since joining the series in 2012.

Power still managed to finish the year ranked second after his season was marred by crashes that were not his fault in sonsecutive races.
