Willems recalled as Hiddink names preliminary Dutch squad

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Netherlands recalled full back Jetro Willems after almost a year out when coach Guus Hiddink named a preliminary squad on Wednesday for next month's friendly against Mexico and the Euro 2016 qualifier against Latvia. There was no room however for Hamburg SV midfielder Rafael van der Vaart, Daryl Janmaat of Newcastle United, PSV Eindhoven midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum and Ukraine-based striker Jeremain Lens.

Striker Memphis Depay and defender Ron Vlaar are also back for the Amsterdam Arena matches against Mexico on Nov. 12 and Latvia four days later.

Hiddink will finalise his squad on Nov. 7, the Dutch FA said.

Netherlands are third in Euro 2016 Group A qualifying, six points behind Iceland and Czech Republic after three games.
