Willesee denies Corby will get $2m to talk

Seven Network journalist Mike Willesee says reports that Schapelle Corby has been paid $2 million dollars for an exclusive interview are "way silly".

Mike Willesee has dismissed reports that the Seven Network paid Schapelle Corby $2 million dollars for an exclusive interview.

The veteran reporter has told reporters in Bali he doesn't expect the interview to take place for a while and he hasn't yet seen the convicted drug smuggler despite staying in the same luxury resort, Sentosa Seminyak.

Earlier, Seven presenter David Koch slammed his own bosses for what he said was the decision to pay Corby $2 million for an exclusive interview.

"I reckon we should have nothing to do with her as a network," he said during Tuesday's Sunrise program.

"Totally disagree with paying a convicted drug smuggler $2 million."

Willesee said he didn't know the size of the figure but described $2 was "crazy".

"Way silly. It's not up there at all," he said as he left the Sentosa for a walk on Tuesday.

"I don't know what the deal is but I would very much like to interview her - and I hope to but I haven't seen her."

Willesee said he and Corby were staying in different villas and he hadn't personally been in contact with her.

He said the interview was taking time to organise. He also said he did not know when or how any interview with the convicted drug smuggler would happen.

"As I understand it, Schapelle needs some time to chill out," he said.
