Sonny Bill Williams is expected to be fit but Manu Vatuvei remains in doubt for the Kiwis' Rugby League World Cup semi-final at Wembley.

Williams went down in the opening minute of the match against Scotland, after a copping a forearm to the neck.

He managed to play on for another half and hour, but was then taken off the field. Kiwis medical staff said on Saturday that he'd pulled up better than expected and his injury shouldn't be an issue this week.

However Vatuvei's prognosis is a little more up in the air. The big wing limped off the field during the second half with a groin injury.

"It's pretty much a new injury, when you get old you start breaking down. I've just got to do all the little things right and hope for the best," Vatuvei said.

"It's just something I've got to look after now and go from there."

Medical staff will asses Vatuvei midweek when he gets a chance to test the groin at training.

"I'm confident that if I do everything that I need to do, the medical staff will watch me during the week and we'll go from there," Vatuvei said.

New Zealand will face England in the semi-final if they win their quarter-final against France on Sunday (AEDT).
