Classy batsman New Zealand Kane Williamson wants to become a more viable option with the ball after his remodelled bowling action was cleared by the ICC.
Williamson can bowl his offspin at international level again following a series of tests in India two weeks ago.
He hasn't bowled since New Zealand's tour of the West Indies in July when his action came under scrutiny and analysis showed his elbow extension exceeded the 15 degrees of tolerance permitted under ICC regulations.
The 24-year-old was relieved to be cleared, saying he didn't realise how much he enjoyed bowling until it was taken away from him.
He says the process of analysing his action was good for him and he hopes to become an even better option for New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum as a back-up spinner.
"Working on my bowling is something I hadn't done in the past, which is probably why my action lost itself a little bit," he said.
"I've come back with a straighter arm and I'm trying to pursue a new path with my bowling."
Established at first drop in the Black Caps Test batting order, Williamson has been handy with the ball, taking 24 Test wickets at an average of 40.66.
He has claimed 23 one-day international wickets at 30.91 and three Twenty20 scalps.
Williamson set about modifying his action under the tutelage of former England spinner Richard Dawson, who is on the coaching staff at his English county Yorkshire.
The work continued with New Zealand spin coach Paul Wiseman, with a focus on becoming more side-on with his delivery.
Williamson is stand-in captain for the current ODI series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates in the absence of a resting McCullum.
He indicated he will bowl himself at some stage during the four remaining games.
