Win-win for Bulls going into Shield day 4

Queensland appear set to secure either a draw or an unlikely victory heading into the final day of the Sheffield Shield clash with Western Australia.

Queensland opener Marnus Labuschagne sees no reason why the Bulls can't push for an outright result if Western Australia set a gettable total on the fourth day of their Sheffield Shield match at the WACA Ground.

With the bat again dominating the opening three days, it appears only a sporting declaration by WA skipper Michael Klinger or an unlikely batting collapse could produce a result.

Only a win for the Warriors keep them in contention for the March final, and while a draw won't hurt Queensland's chances, a win would significantly boost them.

At stumps on Saturday, WA were 1-79 in their second innings leading by 69, with Shaun Marsh on 32 and Cameron Bancroft 39.

Queensland declared at 8-446 with a lead of 10 after centuries by Labuschagne (103) and Chris Lynn (101).

Labuschagne was delighted by his 267-ball knock as the Bulls' young top order continue to produce.

"It was a long innings and it was a fair few hours out there. It was a bit of a grind and they were bowling really well, and Coults (Nathan Coulter-Nile) bowled good, but I'm very pleased to get three figures," Labuschagne said.

"It definitely was about occupying the crease, and just playing your game and making them come to you. It was good that Lynny played a good knock and the same with Sammy Heazlett. They really got the scoreboard ticking over."

Labuschagne recognises the ball is in WA's court to set up a chase for Queensland to give themselves a chance to bowl the visitors out, and for the Bulls to chase the total.

"It's obviously all in the captain's court, but if the opportunity arose to win the game, I can't see why we wouldn't want to try and win it," Labuschagne said.

"We have the capable batsmen in our lineup to take away a game from a team, so I can't see why if the opportunity came up whatever the score was that we wouldn't try and go for the win."
