West Indies captain Denesh Ramdin doesn't think selectors will turn to exiled great Shivnarine Chanderpaul after their first Test humiliation by Australia.
The 40-year-old left-hander's absence was keenly felt during the nine-wicket thrashing in Dominica.
A young Windies line-up was dismissed twice inside three days, with only debutant Shane Dowrich (70) and veteran Marlon Samuels (74) passing 40 in either innings for the hosts.
The decision to omit 164-Test veteran Chanderpaul has angered many across the Caribbean, and the Windsor Park humbling is unlikely to quiet those who are urging for his reinstatement.
But Ramdin isn't panicking and believes selectors will stick with the same lineup which was so easily quashed by the tourists.
"His (Chanderpaul's) experience is countless but we have to move on," Ramdin said.
"Young Dowrich did well for himself so far. If he could have gone on to get a hundred today it would have been brilliant.
"It's something he can learn from. He has stood up against one of the best bowling lineups in the world."
Ramdin says he has confidence his young charges can rebound from the defeat despite having less than a week to collect themselves before the second Test starts in Jamaica on Thursday.
"We try to take the positives out of this game and move forward," Ramdin said.
"They're a good unit and we need to play a lot more tougher cricket.
"When we're in positions of strength we need to carry that on."
