Hawthorn defender James Frawley doesn't require surgery, but will be sidelined for up to six weeks with a pectoral injury.
Frawley, 26, suffered the injury to his right pectoral muscle when laying a tackle in the first quarter of the Hawks' two-point loss to Essendon.
"The good news is that he doesn't require any surgery whatsoever," football manager Chris Fagan told the club's website on Tuesday.
"He has a low-grade tear of his pectoral muscle and that will probably take somewhere in the vicinity of four to six weeks to heal up.
"We'll just have to wait and see on that, but that's the indication that we've got at the moment.
"Hopefully it's four and not six, but we'll just have to wait and see."
Josh Gibson and Sam Mitchell were withdrawn from the round-two side after failing to recover in time from the season-opening win over Geelong, but Fagan said the important pair should be ready to resume against the Western Bulldogs this week.
Bradley Hill was dazed after being driven into the MCG turf in a tackle late in the dramatic final term against Essendon, but is also expected to face the Dogs in Launceston.
