Wins all that matter for Titan Sezer

Gold Coast five-eighth Aidan Sezer says a much needed NRL win for his club is all that will give him satisfaction.

It's fair to say Gold Coast five-eighth Aidan Sezer didn't deserve to be on the losing side against Newcastle on Sunday.

Sezer was the stand-out performer for the Titans, scoring a second-half double as the home team overcame some dubious refereeing and a dominant first 40 by the Knights to take an 18-14 lead late into the round three NRL clash.

But the Titans failed to hold on, some costly penalties and notable kicking errors by halfback Daniel Mortimer allowing the Knights to snatch a win when veteran Jeremy Smith scored the match-winning try four minutes from time.

The result was a heart-breaking one for the Titans, especially after their one-point defeat to Wests Tigers in their opening match of the season at Robina.

It means for the first time since their 2011 wooden spoon campaign, the Titans are 0-3 after their first three matches of the season.

Since 2007, only three of 15 teams who have begun a campaign 0-3 have gone on to make the finals.

Sezer knows wins are paramount for the under-fire Titans.

"There are plenty of positives but at the end of the day we've got to turn that into wins," Sezer said.

"We've got the Sharks next week. They'll be hungry for a win down there at home and we will be too, it'll be a good match."

The Titans have been plagued by off-field dramas during the pre-season and into the early weeks of the campaign.

Sezer says he's hopeful the fact three players facing drug charges in court - Greg Bird, Dave Taylor and Beau Falloon - made their season debuts against the Knights after club-imposed suspensions were lifted earlier in the week will help shift focus back to football for the club.

"It's been a bit of circus lately," he said.

"The best thing for them is they're back playing footy and they're quality players, their input in the team is massive.

"We've got a few of our boys and hopefully we can get a win next week."

TITANIC WOES - Gold Coast's unwanted NRL record

* The Titans have won just three of their past 20 NRL matches going back to round 9 last year.

* Gold Coast have won just one of their past 11 matches at Robina, including a club record eight straight home defeats last year.

* The Titans have failed to score over 20 points in their past 14 matches at home.
