Winslet selling English home

Kate Winslet is selling her 15th-century English home after the local parish council barred her from building a fence around the house.

British actress Kate Winslet has put her English country mansion on the market after local officials refused to let her build a large fence around the house.

The Titanic star purchased the 15th-century property in Sussex, England with her husband, Ned Rocknroll, in 2013 and applied for planning permission to put up tall wooden gates and a fence around the perimeter to protect her privacy.

However, the application was rejected by the local parish council, according to Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper, and Winslet has now put the house on the market.

The publication reports the property is up for sale for STG2.3 million ($A4.17 million).
