Winter storm shuts down Hunger Games

A storm to hit America's south has shut down TV and film productions in Atlanta, including the latest instalment in The Hunger Games franchise.

A winter storm that has frozen America's southeast has shut down production on the latest instalment in The Hunger Games franchise.

Jennifer Lawrence and Australian Liam Hemsworth and their The Hunger Games: Mockingjay castmates were given time off on Wednesday as the city came to a standstill after a snow and sleet storm pelted the city of Atlanta, Georgia.

More than 400,000 homes and businesses in the state were left out of power.

Shooting on TV shows The Vampire Diaries, Drop Dead Diva and Devious Maids have also been halted because of the storm.
