Anita Wlodarczyk of Poland has bettered her own hammer throw world record with a distance of 81.08m at the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial Throws Festival in Cetniewo.

After opening with a foul Saturday, Wlodarczyk, 29, became the first woman to throw beyond 80m when she added 1.5m to her own world record of 79.58m set last year at the ISTAF athletics meet in Berlin.

The throw was the fourth world record of her career.

"I finally fulfilled my dream," Wlodarczyk said. "I made history by becoming the first woman in the world to throw the hammer farther than 80 metres."

After breaking the world record in the second-round of the competition, Wlodarczyk completed a consistent series with throws of 79.07m, 78.53m, 76.61m and 77.83m to win the competition.

Wlodarczyk won gold at the 2009 world championships before finishing second at the London Olympics in 2012 and the 2013 worlds.
