Woman allegedly tortured, raped in Qld

A man is due in a Queensland court after a woman was allegedly tortured, and repeatedly assaulted and raped.

A man has been charged in relation to the alleged torture and repeated assault and rape of a woman in Rockhampton.

Detectives allege a 29-year-old woman was attacked by a man she knew at a Park Avenue residence on Tuesday.

Officers arrived at the scene about 5.30pm and a 23-year-old man was taken into custody.

The woman sustained serious injuries and was transported to Rockhampton Base Hospital for treatment.

A Park Avenue man has been charged with a total of 11 offences, including torture, grievous bodily harm and sexual assault, assault occasioning bodily harm while armed, assault occasioning bodily harm and three counts of rape.

He is due to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
