Woman attacked in south Sydney

Police are searching for a man who indecently assaulted a woman in Banksia, in southern Sydney.

A 21-year-old woman has been left with a puncture wound to her mouth after being attacked in southern Sydney.

Police said the woman was walking home from Banksia's train station in the early hours of Saturday morning when a man indecently assaulted her.

He fled when she screamed, and local residents came to help.

Paramedics treated the woman at the scene but she did not require further treatment.

Officers searched of the area, but were unable to find the man, who was described as between 160 and 165cm tall, having an Indian subcontinental appearance, with short black hair and of a medium build.
