An elderly woman has been charged over the death of six-year-old Indie Armstrong, who was hit and killed by a car in a Sunshine Coast car park.
Indie was severely injured when a car reversed into her on a pedestrian crossing in the carpark of a Nambour supermarket on June 17, while her grandmother and sister were also injured in the incident.
She was rushed to hospital but later died from her injuries, while her 57-year-old grandmother remains in hospital recovering from serious injuries.
Following investigations, police have now charged an 86-year-old woman with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and grievous bodily harm, to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on July 25.
Witnesses have said the car was "going like a bullet", and it appeared the elderly driver hit the accelerator instead of the brake.
Indie was farewelled in a moving funeral last week, with her parents Emily and Jason describing her as their "ray of sunshine."
