A 40-year-old woman has been charged with the murder of a three-year-old boy who was found unconscious and badly injured at a home in the NSW country town of Oberon.

The toddler wasn't breathing when emergency services arrived at the home southeast of Bathurst in early August.

Officers performed CPR on the boy before he was airlifted to a Sydney hospital where he died a few days later.

Police were told the child was injured after being knocked over by one of the family's dogs at a park.

After the incident, a crime scene was established at the home, where the boy lived with his stepfather, mother and adult brother.

The Oberon woman was arrested on Monday and police charged her with murder.

She is due to appear in Blayney Local Court on Tuesday.
