Woman hit, killed by 'drink driver' in NT

An alleged drink driver stopped and tried to help a woman who he hit and killed in Alice Springs, police say.

A woman has died after being hit by a car that police say was being driven by a drunk driver in Alice Springs.

The woman was walking on Sadadeen Rd attempting to wave down passing cars when she was hit on Wednesday night.

The driver stopped and administered CPR until an ambulance arrived, but the woman died.

The 52-year-old male driver was arrested, charged and bailed on the offence of drive with a mid-range alcohol level.

The death takes the Territory road toll to 28 compared to 13 for the same period last year.
