Woman in court over her mum's murder

A woman has appeared in a far north Queensland court over the murder of her mother.

A woman has briefly faced court charged with murdering her elderly mother.

Ruth Dodd, 71, was found dead by police at her home in Townsville, in far north Queensland, on January 2.

Her daughter, 36-year-old Alva Ruth Dodd, was arrested on Sunday.

She appeared in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday on one count of murder.

She will reappear on April 27.
