Woman rescued from NZ sinkhole

A New Zealand rescue team has rescued a woman who was down a 10m sinkhole for about four hours.

A woman who fell down a sinkhole on Takaka Hill near Nelson on New Zealand's South Island has been rescued.

The 44-year-old woman spent four hours down the hole before rescuers could reach her about 3pm local time on Thursday.

She fell into the 10 metre deep sinkhole about 11am.

Tasman Bay Cave Rescue and a team of eight cave rescuers worked to free the woman.

Her leg was gashed and she had other abrasions, but she was not seriously injured, police say.
