Woman stabbed after teen fight in Cairns

A woman who intervened after two Cairns teenagers got into a fight has been repeatedly stabbed.

A woman has been repeatedly stabbed after intervening in a fight between two young girls at a Cairns shopping centre.

The 34-year-old suffered serious injuries after she approached a 15-year-old girl who'd been involved in a dispute with another teenager at Manunda on Tuesday afternoon.

It is alleged the 15-year-old produced a knife and used it to stab the woman a number of times. The victim remains in the Cairns Base Hospital.

The teenager has been charged with one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
