Woman 'tortured' in Qld abuse attack

A 54-year-old central Queensland woman has been allegedly tortured over a number of hours in a domestic incident, police say.

A woman was allegedly tortured over a number of hours during a domestic attack in central Queensland.

Police allege a 45-year-old man began assaulting and torturing a 54-year-old woman at a Rockhampton residence on Friday night.

It's alleged the woman was abused a number of times at the Port Curtis home over the evening and into the next afternoon.

The man fled into bushland when police went to the house just before 4pm on Saturday.

He was later arrested and charged with a string of offences, including assault occasioning bodily harm, torture, attempting to injure by noxious substance and breaching a domestic violence order.

The Yeppoon man is due appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Monday.
