Woman with child in car in police pursuit

A woman whose 10-year-old son was with her in a car that was allegedly stolen, has been charged with various driving offences.

A Sydney woman accused of leading police on a chase in a stolen car with her 10-year-old son inside is set to face court.

Officers began following the woman in a Mercedes 4WD after she allegedly failed to stop when traffic police activated warning devices at Greenacre, in the city's southwest.

Police said the woman travelled over media strips, mounted a curb and drove over a grassed area before she was stopped before going through a chain wire fence.

The boy, who was not hurt, was later placed into the care of family.

A 31-year-old woman has been charged with police pursuit (Skye's Law), motor vehicle theft, driving while disqualified, goods in custody and breaching bail.

She was refused bail, and is due to appear in Bankstown Local Court on Tuesday.
