Woman's body found in Victoria's north

A body discovered in northern Victoria is that of 56-year-old missing Melbourne woman Helen Sherry, police believe.

A body discovered in northern Victoria is believed to be that of a missing Melbourne woman.

Helen Sherry, 56, was last seen leaving a friend's home to go to a doctor's appointment on July 17. Her disappearance prompted an appeal for help by police and the Epping woman's family via Facebook and Victorian media outlets several days later.

The body, found in Runnymede on Tuesday afternoon, is yet to be formally identified, a police spokeswoman says.

However, at this stage it is believed to be that of Ms Sherry.

Her death is not being treated as suspicious.
