Woman's phone stolen at knife point

A man with a knife has held up a woman in Sydney's and stolen her mobile phone.

A woman has had her mobile phone stolen at knife point in Sydney's west.

Police said the 19-year-old was walking north along O'Connell Street in North Parramatta at about 8.15pm (AEDT) on Saturday when she was approached by a man near a pedestrian crossing.

The man threatened her with a knife and demanded her mobile phone, before fleeing toward Fennell Street.

The woman was not injured and a police search of the area failed to find the offender.

Police say the man is of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance, about 20 years old, 170-175 centimetres tall, of medium build with a pink lip-shaped tattoo on the right side of his neck.
