Women won't be distracted by MoU saga

Australia's women players say they will not allow the ongoing MoU saga back home affect their World Cup campaign in the UK.

Australia's women's cricketers insist the ongoing MoU crisis back home won't distract their efforts to retain the World Cup.

Meg Lanning's side eased to a five-wicket win over New Zealand at Bristol on Sunday to secure a third successive victory.

But the skipper said she and her squad have not been involved in any talks about the situation between the Australian Cricketers' Association (ACA) and Cricket Australia.

Players from the men's side held an emergency meeting in Sydney on Sunday where they threatened to boycott the Australia A tour of South Africa, scheduled to start on July 12 after the June 30 deadline for MoU to be rubber stamped expired.

Lanning said she was not privy to the meeting as she was focused on the match against the White Ferns and said the situation was something the squad are not contemplating until they return home later this month.

"I was a part of it and to be honest the squad has been really good on focusing on playing cricket," Lanning said.

"We're letting the ACA and CA work all through that stuff and negotiations. We're focusing on cricket and hopefully everything will get sorted soon."

Elysse Perry followed a similar line and with the team under contract until the end of this World Cup, after signing a bridging deal to get them through the competition, she said it's not something she is worried about - yet.

"To be honest we are not even conscious of it," Perry said.

"We're here to represent Australia and I think we all feel incredibly fortunate to do so and will do it to the best of our ability.

"We're contracted for this period and it hasn't been mentioned."
