Woods happy to play in Tiger's shadow

Anywhere Cheyenne Woods go, questions about her uncle Tiger are sure to follow, but it's all normal for the 23-year-old American female golfer.

The burden of carrying a famous sporting name has proven cumbersome for plenty of sporting careers.

Michael Jordan's sons Marcus and Jeffrey both quit college basketball in spite of the media interest their father's name brought to their games.

Dutch soccer great Johan Cruyff's son Jordi spent time at both Barcelona and Manchester United during his career but never managed to live up to the reputation his father had bestowed upon their surname during the 1970s.

And Jack Nicklaus's sons Gary and Jack Jnr failed to get anywhere near the level their legendary father achieved in their own golf careers.

It's a situation that Cheyenne Woods also has to deal with every time she takes a swing on the golf course.

It's not often a world No.363 has one of the biggest galleries of the day following them around the course but that's what happened at Royal Pines for the second round of the Australian Ladies Masters on Friday.

When your uncle is sporting superstar Tiger Woods, it's hard to avoid the obvious comparison that will be drawn.

Thankfully Tiger's niece delivered for the fans as she shot a six-under 67 to take a share of the clubhouse lead following her round.

The 23-year-old says questions about being a Woods are inevitable but don't faze her too much.

"I've been playing golf since I was five years old so, for me, playing golf with the last name Woods is nothing new," said Woods, who admits she occasionally calls uncle Tiger for advice.

"It's just now it's on a bigger stage so I get a lot more media attention.

"I'm still playing the same golf that I've been playing my whole life."
