Tiger Woods missed the cut at the 93rd PGA Championship on Friday, only the third time in his career the 14-time major winner has failed to reach the last two rounds at a major tournament.

Woods followed his worst opening round in any major, a seven-over 77 on Thursday at Atlanta Athletic Club, with a 73 on Friday to stand on 10-over par 150.

With more than 70 players already in the clubhouse on lower totals, Woods was assured of being unable to make the cut, the low 70 and level, to play on the weekend.

Woods missed his two prior major cuts at the 2009 British Open and 2006 US Open.

Woods has not won any event since the start of his infamous sex scandal in Novmber of 2009 and he has not won a major title since the 2008 US Open.

Former World No. 1 Woods, now ranked 30th, was playing in only his second event since returning from left leg injuries suffered at the Masters last April, a layoff of almost four months.
