Worker trapped in Mt Isa copper mine

A search is underway for a mine worker who has been trapped in Mount Isa since Wednesday morning.

A worker has been trapped in a copper mine in Queensland's northwest since Wednesday morning.

Anglo-Swiss mining company Glencore has confirmed that one of its employees became trapped at its Mount Isa mine shortly before noon.

Work has ceased at Mount Isa Mines's copper operations as the company searches for the missing worker with help from police, a Glencore spokesman told AAP.
