Working through night on India FTA: Hockey

Australia hopes to have a free trade agreement with India by the end of the year similar to the successful deal it signed with China last week.

Australia is putting pressure on India to sign up to free trade agreement as good as the one finalised with China last week.

Trade Minister Andrew Robb has made his third visit to India - Australia's 12th largest trading partner - in a bid to settle on an agreement by the end of 2015.

"We are working through the night ... putting pressure on them to help us to get to the point where we can have a similar, very positive agreement," Treasurer Joe Hockey told a Committee for Economic Development of Australia conference in Canberra on Monday.
