In contrast to the 7-1 wipeout that sent Germany into the final, Argentina and the Netherlands failed to score during the game and in extra time, sending them into a tense penalty shoot out more than two hours after kick off.

The passionate responses from both players and fans has sent the game trending on social media, led by Argentinian star Lionel Messi.
Of course, others remembered it was a team effort.
The match result is also a win for Latin America, where football is almost a religion, as testified by this fan.
Let's just hope the final doesn't produce any more memes like this.
