The celebrations echoed similar ones taking place around the world, including in Berlin at the iconic Brandenburg gates.
Fans were shocked as Germany swept in the early to take the lead before proceeding to notch up another four goals by half-time in a decimating onslaught.

Fans watching on the big screen at Sydney's Star Casino were stunned.
Joachim Low’s side stretched the 5-0 at half-time to make it 7-0 after the break before Oscar netted in the 90th-minute to grab shell-shocked Brazil's sole response.

On a day to remember for Germany, Miroslav Klose became the leading scorer in FIFA World Cup history as his first-half strike took his tally to 16 goals – one more than legendary former Brazil striker Ronaldo's total of 15.

Miroslav Klose has become the all-time leading scorer in World Cup football after scoring his 16th goal during the first half.

The 36-year-old Klose, playing in his fourth World Cup semi-final, has put Germany well on the path to the final in Rio de Janeiro.
