The availability of World Cup-winning trio George Bailey, James Faulkner and Xavier Doherty and the return of paceman Jackson Bird have Tasmania confident of a good showing in October's Matador Cup.
The injury-plagued Bird has not played any one-day cricket for Tasmania in three years.
Announcing the Tigers' 14-man squad on Tuesday, chairman of selectors Michael Farrell said there was a good balance of youth and experience.
"We've got a lot of experience in the squad at the top of the order (and) two really well-performed spinners," Farrell said, referring in the latter to Doherty and Clive Rose.
Young batting star Jake Doran, who shifted from NSW to sign with the Tigers in March and has just returned from the UK where he captained Australia's under-19 side, is also named in the squad.
Doran's batting strengths will prove valuable in the upcoming limited-overs domestic competition, Farrell said.
"We bat very deep which is important on these small grounds."
Tasmanian stalwart, paceman Ben Hilfenhaus, won't be available for the Matador Cup.
"(He) had some hamstring soreness he brought back from England," Farrell said of the 32-year-old.
"It's been managed pretty carefully by the medical people. He's unavailable for the Matador Cup but we're hopeful he'll get right for the start of the Shield season."
Tasmania open their Matador Cup campaign on October 5 against Queensland.
Tasmanian Tigers: George Bailey (capt), Alex Doolan, Jackson Bird, Xavier Doherty, Jake Doran, Ben Dunk, James Faulkner, Evan Gulbis, Hamish Kingston, Ryan Lees, Dominic Michael, Tim Paine, Sam Rainbird, Clive Rose.
