World News Australia speaks to Julian Assange

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has spoken in a one-on-one interview with World News Australia's Kristina Kukolja, making his case for election to the Australian Senate on September 7.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has told SBS that Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is going to have to take action to reduce the political influence of the WikiLeaks party.

Mr Assange is standing for the Australian Senate in the federal election on September 7.

He has plans to target the Australian diaspora ahead of the election.

But he's stuck in the Ecuadorian embassy in London avoiding extradition to Sweden for questioning over sexual assault claims while hoping to travel to Ecuador where he's been offered asylum.

In a wide-ranging interview, Julian Assange has told World News Australia Radio's Kristina Kukolja, that self-preservation will force the major parties to act.

He also reveals what he misses about Australia, and that he would encourage Australian Senators to leak by giving them USB sticks.
