The World Superbike championship (WorldSBK) will debut a new three-race format in next year's season-opening round at Phillip Island.
The series has used a two-race format - one on Saturday afternoon and one on Sunday - for each round since its inaugural season in 1988.
But from next year, a third sprint race will be held on Sunday morning.
"World superbikes is always about action ... lots and lots of back-to-back racing," Phillip Island circuit chief Fergus Cameron said.
"This three-race initiative from (governing body) Dorna and the teams is sensational.
"It's putting the fans first with lap upon lap of unrivalled action and that's what we love. A third race will escalate the intensity of competition to a level unheard of before in the sport of motorcycle racing."
With two rounds remaining in this year's series, Northern Ireland's Jonathan Rea has already claimed the championship - his fourth title in a row.
Ducati's Marco Melandri won both races this year at Phillip Island, but Rea stormed to the title with eight-straight wins on his Kawasaki.
The 2019 World SBK championship will begin at the 4.45km Phillip Island circuit from Friday, February 22, with World Supersport Championship and national support races also being held over the weekend.
