Worst GWS performance: Jimmy Bartel

Jimmy Bartel, the Geelong legend who now sits on GWS's board, say the Giants' "embarrassing" loss to Hawthorn was the club's worst performance.

GWS director Jimmy Bartel has launched a withering attack on the Giants, declaring they should be embarrassed after the "worst performance" in the AFL club's existence.

The Giants suffered a 33-point loss to Hawthorn at the MCG on Sunday, meaning their record at the home of football is now two wins from 16 attempts.

The result was an upset but the nature in which it was achieved, with the Hawks controlling possession by grabbing 136 marks while the visitors managed to kick a total of five goals - including just one in the entire second half, was far more shocking.

Giants coach Leon Cameron, now mulling how many changes to make and whether to rush fit-again veteran Brett Deledio back for Sunday's home clash with Carlton, described the performance as unacceptable and "tripe".

Bartel, who won three premierships during a decorated 305-game career with Geelong, was even more scathing.

"That was the worst performance I've ever seen them play," Bartel told the AFL website.

"The first couple of years they were just an expansion club, playing young players. This is a team expecting to challenge, behind Collingwood and Geelong, for a premiership.

"They should all be embarrassed.

"I walked away from that ground maybe finding two players who actually played to their potential."

The 2007 Brownlow medallist, who joined GWS's board last December, was speaking in has capacity as a pundit.

Bartel also planned on delivering some direct feedback to the club.

"I'll have my comments through the week to different people," he said.

"I always go to the game saying 'remember how hard it is to play the game, we can see the space (GWS were giving Hawthorn) on the second and third level'.

"I could keep thinking that until about halfway through the second quarter.

"Incredibly disappointing."

Cameron opted to make one change after his team's upset loss to Fremantle at Manuka Oval in round five.

Cameron may not be so patient this time around, especially with the likes of Deledio and Lachie Whitfield pressing to return from injury against the Blues.

Imposing ruckman Shane Mumford is also in the mix to play this weekend, having missed the loss to Hawthorn because of a knee injury, but may need another week on the sidelines.

Coleman medal leader Jeremy Cameron, who kicked 30 goals from the opening seven rounds then was held goal-less by the Hawks, remains in doubt for Sunday's match because of a shoulder injury.
