Wounded Cowboys head home victorious

North Queensland are counting the cost of their bruising NRL win over Gold Coast with Jordan Kahu and Gideon Gela-Mosby suffering injuries.

A bruising NRL win over Gold Coast has left North Queensland with further injury concerns.

The Cowboys claimed a gutsy 6-4 win over the Titans at Cbus Super Stadium on Sunday but played the second half without winger Gideon Gela-Mosby and bench forward Corey Jensen.

While Jensen was ruled out after suffering a head knock and is a chance to play in Saturday's home match against Manly, Gela-Mosby fractured his collarbone and is set for a stint on the sidelines.

Fullback Jordan Kahu, who was influential throughout Sunday's win, is looking at up to six weeks out after injuring his shoulder in the final play of the match as the Cowboys desperately defended their tryline.

It adds to a lengthy injury list for the Cowboys which includes veteran prop Matt Scott (shoulder) and former Queensland State of Origin centre Justin O'Neill (ruptured spleen).

Enari Tuala, Ben Hampton, Te Maire Martin and Nene Macdonald are also out for the Townsville-based club.

Cowboys coach Paul Green said O"Neill's surgery after his dramatic injury, sustained during a 26-22 win over Canberra last month, had gone well and it was hoped he'd be able to return to Townsville soon.

"His recovery's going well," Green said.

"He's still down in Canberra so he's not out of hospital yet.

"Hopefully we'll get him back this week. Everything went well, it's now a case of letting the healing process take place and we'll get a read on him a bit later on."
