Wright, Van Dijk, Fitzgibbons all in semis

Australians will fill three of the four semi-final berths at the Rio Women's Pro with only Frenchwoman Johanne Defay to spoil the Antipodean party.

Defending world champion Tyler Wright turned in a spectacular performance on day five at the Rio Women's Pro to easily advance to the semi-finals.

Wright's 9.87 was the highest score of the day at Saquarema, American Sage Erickson no match for the Australian's two sensational turns to finish more than five points adrift.

"I'm a little bit tired, a little bit sore today but happy to be continuing," Wright said.

"It was kind of like the first time I felt like I've set a rail and I could push it that little bit further. I knew Sage was ripping on those lefts so keeping her off those lefts was the game plan."

Wright advanced to a semi-final match-up with countrywoman Sally Fitzgibbons, who qualified with victory over fellow Australian Keely Andrew.

"I got out of that first one and as soon as I set rail I just waited until I saw that clean opportunity," she said of her top wave.

"Tomorrow whatever happens, happens. It's just been fun."

Nikki Van Dijk will round out the Australian semi-final contingent when she faces France's Johanne Defay in the last four.

Van Dijk prevailed over six-time world champion Stephanie Gilmore.
