It's almost scary how good surfer Tyler Wright could be.
After finishing second in 2013 and 2014, the Australian surfed her way to her maiden world title on Wednesday at age 22.
The Lennox Head-based surfer looked like an athlete possessed at times in 2016.
More determined than in her two seasons where she finished runner-up in 2013 and 2014, she won four events along the way and dropped just nine heats along the way.
"For me, it's only just started," Wright told AAP.
"I've done 10 months with a coach and in 10 months I've learnt more than I could imagine."
Wright, heralding from a prodigious family that includes pro-surfing brothers Owen and Mikey, could now stand at the edge of the surfing world.
A two-time junior world champion, Wright is the second youngest of the current top 10 on the tour and is in the prime position to pounce given the sport makes it debut in the Olympics at Tokyo in 2020.
And while she isn't interested in looking too far ahead at this stage, even she's excited about what lays ahead.
"I've never been so psyched on what I do," she said.
"I'm six years in and I'm learning more than I ever have with the team that I have right now.
"I don't see myself not wanting to continue to learn."
In the more immediate future, Wright will return home to the NSW north coach for the first time in two months shortly, after spending just four nights at home in the past four months.
Then she'll return to work for the final event of the year in Maui, which she insists she'll have no trouble switching back on for given her current drive.
"That's what I've done all year," she said.
"I'll go there with the same mindset. Win every heat and win every final."
