The father of a Melbourne teenager named by the Fairfax Media as terrorist suspect says the family has accepted a settlement that includes a large front-page apology.

Last September, Fairfax published a front-page photo of Abu Bakar Alam, wrongly identifying him as Numan Haider, another Melbourne teenager who'd been shot dead after stabbing two police.

Abu Bakar Alam's father, Sher Alam, told Kristina Kukolja the family is satisfied with a settlement that includes the prominent apology in The Age, and a donation of $20,000 by Fairfax to a mosque in the suburb of Doveton.
